Solid Brass Sextant With A Nickel Finish, 5".

A beautiful gift boxed solid brass with a Nickel finish reproduction of a charming pocket sextant as used by Victorian explorers and surveyors. Intricate and semi-functional, it has all the pieces needed to shoot the sun. A sextant defined latitude. A clock longitude. Defining the angle of Sun and Stars with the horizon was an important way to navigate and survey. A beautiful intricate little instrument with an interesting and ancient history. This solid brass sextant with a Nickel finish measures 5" from top to bottom, 5" wide at the widest point and sits on nickel legs. On the underside there is a dark wood handle (not visible in picture), that is 2¼" long to make handling easier. The black wooden box features a beautiful etching into the glass top of a sextant and a description of it's purpose, as well as nickel corner accents and a locking latch. This sextant will enhance the Nautical decor anywhere in your home, cabin or office.
